"Good morning, we hope you are well rested
and ready for the fourth day of our tour. I am Igor, your tour
guide. I see the majority of our guests were able to join us again
today. My condolences to the families of those who left us during
the night. |
|
Today's hall includes victims of explosions.
Evil, unrestrained, massive and deadly explosions. Mmmmmmm. Oh, my
apologies, sometimes my daydreams become so real. As I was saying,
explosions most deadly, created by your common combustion engine under
uncommon circumstances. |

|
Pinging, a cute term for such devilment! The
poor unsuspecting piston and rod, happily rotating, on their way upwards to
greet a nicely controlled explosion of gasses and oxygen brought about by a
spark from a plug, only to be caught unawares and unready by pre-ignition
and a massive explosion caused not by spark but by heat. This huge explosion
forces the piston and the crank to do unnatural things, leaving a trail of
destroyed and dismembered components in its wake.
The rod on the left shows hardened metal forcibly peeled away as a result of
"pinging". The rod on the right is a pristine example of what this part is
supposed to look like. |

Pity this poor part, and the ignoramus who
allowed it to happen. Pity the rider who doesn't jet properly, doesn't run
proper fuel, pushes ignition timing too far, or simply ignores the loud
pinging cries of an engine ready to explode it's guts over the landscape and
turn perfectly serviceable components into Escher-like twisted remnants of
expensive bits and pieces.
Mmmmmm, mangled. Oh, I forget myself again, my apologies. |

...This concludes today's portion of our
tour. You are welcome to spend the night and continue with us
tomorrow.
Ah, I see I have no volunteers to stay the night?
Well, in that case, I hope you've enjoyed your time, and I wish you the best
of luck in the future...if you have one. The exit is an easy walk through
this trap door, along the slippery edge of the shark tank, through Spider
Cave, up the Twisted Steps of Doom, into the Dragon's Lair, through the Maze
of Death, and out through the Crypt."
