1. CHOOSE REFUND OR EXCHANGE?
EXCHANGE: Send us your core
(with a copy of the
Packing List), then we will ship your Powroll part.
-OR-
REFUND: Order the part and pay the
core charge After receiving your order, return your core to us with a copy
of the invoice. Charge card will be credited when your
good core is received.
2. SENDING CORES TO POWROLL
What you'll need for full core credit:
≠ Useable core - include all pressed-on parts (bearings, etc).
≠
Invoice copy (or name, address, phone
number, invoice #).
≠
Returned within 30 days.
Follow these steps:
A. Remove part from engine
(or have a qualified mechanic do it) and remove any bolted-on
parts (Timing Sprocket, etc).
B. Evaluate its usefulness as a
core (see Core Requirements)
C. Place each part in a
plastic bag, then with bubble wrap or newspaper. Place the
parts in a box FULL of packing material (p-nuts, bubble wrap,
foam, newspaper). If you re-use the Powroll box, don't forget
to keep your installation instructions and warranty card.
D. Enclose an invoice copy
or note including name, phone number and Powroll invoice
number (or if it's an exchange, note that).
E. Ship (don't forget to
insure your package):
UPS, FED EX, DHL

3. ROCKER CORES
If your rockers have a good shaft area
(bore where the rocker shaft sits), a good thread area (where
tappets thread into), and have not been discolored from excessive
heat, they will be useable as cores. Lobe area can be nearly
destroyed, and the rockers will still be ok as cores.

5. CORE REQUIREMENTS
Some things that can cause a core to
be unserviceable:
Ø
Scoring on the journal areas
Ø
Stripped or Broken Bolt holes
Ø
Journal areas out-of-round
Ø
Excessive Overheating (blueing) of
cam or bearings
≠/Ø
Previously modified (Hardweld or
Re-Ground) May be reground to
different spec. Call for more info.
Ø
Aftermarket Billet camshafts cannot be re-worked
|
 |
Journal areas, sprocket holder and even the lobes are in
perfect, unworn condition. No discoloration of the metal
from heat, and no stripped bolt holes or broken sprocket holder
ears. |
|
|
 |
Hopefully yours doesn't look
like this! This photo shows a worst-case scenario. This cam is
obviously bad, even to the untrained eye! |
|
 |
Most bad cam cores aren't
as
easy to spot. Although in good overall condition,
this deep gouge in the backside of lobe is a problem. A
Hardweld cam re-works the top of the lobe,
underside is typically left alone. This gouge is too deep to allow
a rocker to ride
over it smoothly. |
|
 |
The front camshaft in this photo
is discolored from excessive heat (good core in back for comparison). Heat not only discolors metal, but changes hardness and strength. This can be caused by low oil, no oil or improper oil.
Any metal item in the engine that has changed color will need to be
replaced -- including this cam!
NOTE:
Some engine parts (rods, crank flyweights, etc) may be heat
treated from the factory. |
