Quick Facts & Definitions

What is a Powroll?  Poweroll, power role, power roll, powerroll, what the heck???  Over the years, many customers have asked us, where did the name come from?   Basically, the idea of the word came from the term 'Power to Roll'.  In essence, it's what we do.  We give you 'Power to Roll'.

What is a Bore?  It's the loud obnoxious guy you always try to avoid at parties.  Other than that, it is half of the equation of engine displacement.  It is the size of the piston that's traveling up and down in your cylinder.  The other half of the displacement equation is stroke, which is the amount of travel your piston has moving up and down in the cylinder.

What is a Stroker?  The short answer is: A stroked crank is one that has the crank pin location moved further out on the flyweights.  This increases the displacement of the engine.  For a more detailed description, check here.

What is a Four Stroke?  Your car engine is a four stroke.  Your weed whacker is most likely a two stroke.  The term refers to the fact that a two stroke completes its entire cycle in two strokes.  The four stroke takes, you got it, four strokes to complete a cycle.  Want more info?  Click here.

Why are some of your products more expensive than 'Brand X'?  Powroll is one of the few performance companies that actually develops, designs and produces our own products right here in the US.  Some companies simply import parts from overseas manufacturers.  These folks don't design the parts, so they don't have any control over quality or performance.  The products may seem less expensive, but may not give you the type of power you want.  Powroll also offers the best tech support in the business.  We guarantee that we can help you with installation and tuning on everything we sell.  The few extra dollars you spend on a Powroll component will pay for easier installation, better performance and longer engine life.

I hear some people call my bike a Thumper, why?  Because they think it looks like that cute fuzzy bunny from Bambi.  Or maybe because it's a four stroke single.  Thumper is a term coined 'back in the day' for a four stroke single cylinder motorcycle.  It has to do with the thump sound of the exhaust note.

You don't list any parts for my model, why not?  We deal primarily with the 'Big 4': Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki & Suzuki.  Within these brands, there are certain models which are more popular to modify than others.  Those are the models we do the most products for.  There are many models that sell well, but high demand for aftermarket products just isn't there. Your bike or ATV may fall into this category.

Will you build a special part for my bike?  We deal in medium-sized production runs of 20 or more on all of our products, so in most cases, we are not able to build 'specials'.

I want to go watch a race or participate it one, why are there all these different groups and events?  Trials, motocross, freestyle, GNCC, AMA, MX, SX, AHRMA, dirt track, road race; the options are staggering.  Motorcycle and ATV racing are as diverse as the people involved.  If you are new to the sport, we suggest going to a few medium to large sized events in your area to see what you enjoy the most (freestyle, arenacross and supercross are the easiest for a spectator to follow).  For a good selection of events, check out AMA and Cycle News.  For local non-competition events you can participate in, ask at your local dealer for information on upcoming Poker Runs or Track/Field Days.
