Q&A WITH 'MASTER' Pete Fisher Q: Is this really Trackmaster, or are you just another frame builder making a "Trackmaster-like" product? Ray Hensley and a skilled group of fabricators were the driving force behind Trackmaster frames throughout the years. Back then, Trackmaster frames would start from a very basic jig, then be completed "freehand" to a racer's specifications. This meant that although many Trackmaster design components were the same for every frame, there was no single "Trackmaster Frame" that was the same every time. After Ray died, racers still wanted Trackmaster, so other manufacturers stepped in to fill the void. These companies didn't have the original jigs, so would copy an existing frame. Unfortunately, this meant using geometry and design features that weren't a part of the core Trackmaster ideal. They were creating quality product, but not a Trackmaster. Fortunately, a friend of Ray's kept everything together after he passed away, and all of this was handed over to Powroll. We have used these original jigs, plus the expertise of original Trackmaster employees to create modern jigs based on these original true Trackmaster designs, incorporating a production-style ideal for ease of parts interchangeability. So, are we Trackmaster or a copy? We are the only company with the original jigs, manufacturing product to original geometry and design, and the only legitimate user of the Trackmaster name. Q: Do you have (or will you have) parts that will fit my old Trackmaster frame? Footpegs, fuel tanks, etc? Fuel Tanks: We are collaborating with a company to make duplicate fuel tanks in both early and late styles. More on that soon. Footpegs, brake levers, etc: Yes and no. Trackmasters were carefully handcrafted, so there are small (and sometimes large!) differences between similar frames. Also, Trackmaster went from the clamp-on style footpegs to plate mount, and many of the early frames were set up for the rider for footpeg height and fore/aft position. We can certainly build about anything you need, BUT we will need a sample part or a very good sketch AND a non-refundable deposit before work begins. We are working on making our Trackmaster frames more standardized on items like pegs, brake levers, swingarms, etc. So if you need spares for your new Trackmaster, they'll fit! Q: When can I order? What's the cost? You can place your order for some styles right now. See our Product Page for details on what is currently available and what we're working on.
